Many opinions have been heard about Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who passed away in October 2011 at the age of just 56. The Biden administration announced seventeen recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Friday.

"These 17 Americans demonstrate the power of possibility and embody the soul of the nation — hard work, perseverance and faith," the White House said in a statement.
“They have overcome significant obstacles to achieve impressive achievements in the arts and sciences, dedicated their lives to advocating for the most vulnerable among us, and acted bravely to drive change in their communities…” he added.
Jobs is one of three people to receive the award posthumously. The other two were John McCain and Richard Trumka.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom, which Steve Jobs received, is awarded to those who have contributed/contribute to the prosperity, values, or security of the United States, world peace, or other significant social, public, or private endeavors.
The White House said of Steve Jobs: "vision , imagination and creativity led to inventions that have changed and continue to change the way communicates , as well as the computer, music, film and wireless."
Jobs died on October 5, 2011, after a long battle with cancer . He had resigned from Apple just six weeks before his death.

The awards will be presented at the White House on July 7, 2022. The Biden administration has not revealed who will receive Steve Jobs' Presidential Medal of Freedom, although it is likely to be his wife of 20 years, Laurene Powell-Jobs.
