The U.S. State Department is offering a reward of up to $15 million for information about the notorious Conti ransomware gang. The U.S. is seeking information that will help authorities identify key members as well as members and associates.

Up to $10 million of this reward is being offered for information leading to the identity and location of Conti gang leaders , and the remaining $5 million for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of individuals who conspired or attempted to participate in attacks .
According to State Department spokesman Ned Price, the Conti ransomware group has targeted more than 1,000 victims as of January 2022. victims had paid over $150 million to the criminals.

The Conti ransomware gang has been the subject of media and law enforcement scrutiny on several occasions. This is not the first time the US has offered rewards for information about the members and activities of a ransomware group. Last November, the US State Department also offered multi-million dollar rewards for information about the REvil (Sodinokibi) and Darkside ransomware operations.
The rewards are offered as part of the Transnational Organized Crime Rewards Program (TOCRP) .

A brief note on the famous Conti ransomware gang
Conti is a Ransomware-as-a-Service (RaaS) that is said to be linked to the Russian-speaking Wizard Spider group. The group has targeted hundreds of victims around the world. Some of them are well-known companies and organizations.

However, recently, the group has faced some problems, as a Ukrainian researcher published thousands of internal messages exchanged between gang members, as well as part of the source code .
Despite the problems, however, the group continues malicious activities.
