Instagram in 2022 will restore the chronological feed.

The social networking platform confirmed the rollback with a brief statement on Twitter, adding that users will have the ability to choose whether they want to scroll their feed in this order:
«We want people to have meaningful control over their experience. We were experimenting with Favorites, a way for you to decide whose posts you want to see higher, and we are working on another option to view posts from people you follow in chronological order.
We want to be clear that we are creating new options — providing people with more choices so they can decide what suits them best — without everyone having to return to the chronological flow. You can expect more of this at the beginning of next year!».
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri first revealed the news during a recent Senate, where he explained that the feature had been in the works "for months" and that "the company aims to launch in the first quarter of next year."

Earlier in the year – June, Mosseri shared in a post that it was “impossible for most people to see everything, let alone all the posts that mattered to them” with Instagram’s chronological feed. Engadget adds, however, that the platform has since received more reactions for its algorithm, especially towards teenagers and younger users.
