Instagram is testing music support in posts

For years, Instagram has allowed users in supported regions to add music to their Stories. With a catalogue that includes millions of songs, users can select a few seconds of a particular track to attach to the Stories they post on Instagram. Music support on Instagram was finally expanded with the release of Reels. The company is now testing this feature on posts on a limited regional scale.

Currently, the feature is being tested with a small percentage of people. Users in India and some other unidentified countries have already started receiving it. If you are part of the server-side deployment, you will find the new menu music selection when preparing a post for sharing. You will then be able to select the few seconds of a particular song you want to include. The feature works like the feature in Instagram's Stories and Reels.

Instagram allows you to view Reels that have a specific song attached. This way you can see the different creations people have posted using the same song. By extending music support to feed posts, users can similarly see other public posts that include a particular piece. In addition, the grid includes a "Use Audio" button so you can effortlessly create your own post using it.

It is not clear when and if music support in feed posts will be made available to new regions and a higher percentage of users. As a limited trial, the feature may never see the light of day on a global scale.
