Bad news for unvaccinated US IBM employees. The company has told employees that they must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 8 or face layoffs without pay.
The company told its employees that everyone should comply with the orders Joe Biden to government contractors regarding vaccines.

“Due to our partnership with the federal government, it is imperative for IBM to comply with this order,” the company said in a memo sent to employees this week. “Based on this requirement, the policies of many of our customers and partners, and the ease of access to vaccines across the country, we will now require all IBM employees in the U.S. to be fully vaccinated by December 8, 2021, in order to continue working at IBM.”
Unlike some companies, such as United Airlines, IBM's vaccination policy is not so strict that unvaccinated employees are fired. However, those who refuse to get vaccinated will not receive their pay after December 8th until they are fully vaccinated.

According to Amanda Carl, a company spokesperson, employees who will stop being paid will still be eligible for IBM's 401K matching program.
Another IBM spokesperson told CNBC that the company will take into account possible medical issues or religious beliefs that prevent some employees from getting the vaccine.

IBM is the latest addition to the list of major companies that have asked employees (all or at least some) to be vaccinated before they can safely return to the office. Other major companies that have made this move include Google, Facebook, Ford, Goldman Sachs, McDonald's, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, Netflix, Twitter, Walmart and others.
