Telegram often mocks its rivals for being slow to add new features to their platforms, but it was the group video calling that was the one that lagged behind, launching the ability to make video calls from one user to another last August – instead of prioritizing starting group video calls.
In an April 2020 post to celebrate its 400 million users, it said the global lockdown had “highlighted the need for a reliable video communication tool.” However, it also stressed the importance of security in group video calls – and that this might be causing a delay in the launch.
