Specifically, a representative of the Commission said that some EU bodies “encountered a security incident in their IT infrastructure”. He also added that the forensic analysis of the incident is still in its early stage and that it is too early to provide further and more definitive information regarding the nature of the attack.

Furthermore, the spokesperson told Bleeping Computer the following: “We are working closely with CERT-EU, the computer emergency response team for all EU institutions, services, agencies and the provider of the affected IT solution. The Commission has set up 24/7 monitoring services and is taking mitigation measures.”
