New Pinephone distribution released with 13 operating systems

Today, many users use dual-boot systems, which allow the use of two operating systems at the same time. Of course, lately more and more systems are released that are incompatible with each other, which is why some of these users are forced to create triple-boot systems. However, recently, an advanced user of a Pinephone decided to create a distribution that contains 13 different operating systems.

Surely, many of you think that it is not possible to have 13 different systems on a single mobile phone, with 16GB of storage. For the same reason, the user mentions that all systems are based on Linux. Thanks to the common base, all operating systems use Linux Kernel 5.9, which fits in less than 8GB of space.

The distribution is based on the p-boot bootloader, which is supported by every version of the PinePhone. So, regardless of the generation of the device, the user can use one of the following operating systems:

  • Arch Linux Arm 2020-09-08
  • Moon OS 0.113
  • Maemo East 20200906
  • Mobian 20200912
  • KDE Neon 20200912-132511
  • pmOS / fbkeyboard 2020-09-11
  • pmOS / GNOME 2020-09-11
  • pmOS / Phosh 2020-09-11
  • pmOS / Plasma Mobile 2020-09-11
  • PureOS 20200908
  • Sailfish 1.1-3.3.0.16-devel-20200909
  • pmOS / sxmo 0.1.8-20200726
  • Ubuntu Touch 2020-09-10

Using this distribution, users can use all of the above operating systems, without the need to change various storage locations or write the new operating system in place of the previous one.

Additionally, the new distribution is based on the btrfs, which allows users to easily restore their systems to their original state if something goes wrong during operation.

If you have a PinePhone and want to try out the new distribution, you can download it via Bittorrent or using this mirror. The file is 5GB in size and can be written to a Bootable USB like regular operating systems.
