Samsung Electronics has unveiled a app health monitoring that allows Galaxy Watch Active 2 users to measure their blood pressure . The app was launched in South Korea on Thursday.
Galaxy Watch Active 2 users can download the app, called Samsung Health Monitor, via the Galaxy Store. According to the company, the app must first be set up with a traditional blood pressure monitor before users can track their blood pressure with the smartwatch.
Once set up, the Galaxy Watch Active 2's wrist sensors can perform a pulse analysis.
The app must be installed on the Galaxy Watch Active 2 as well as the smartphone it is connected to.
Users can see their results by “tapping” their watches.
The results can be synced to the Samsung Health Monitor app on Galaxy smartphones and saved as a PDF file that can be shared with third parties, allowing doctors to access this data.

The app will be available for Galaxy smartphones with Android 7.0 or later and for future smartwatches that have wrist sensors.
Samsung's blood pressure measurement app was approved by South Korea's Ministry Safety of Food and Drug in April
Will this app be released for users outside of South Korea?
A Samsung spokesperson said: “We are working closely with many regulatory authorities in countries where we provide health apps. We look forward to expanding the service to more markets as soon as possible. We will share updates in the future.”
Samsung said that an electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring feature is expected to be added to the Samsung Health Monitor app sometime in the third quarter of this year.
The monitoring has also been approved by the country's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. It allows the app to measure and analyze the heart rhythms of those wearing the watch, as well as detect possible abnormalities that could indicate atrial fibrillation.
