After Huawei was banned from using Google services on its devices in the US, the company has turned to its own alternatives. After the App Gallery , which is a response to the Google Play Store , the company has even turned to creating its own operating system, known as HarmonyOS .
And now, the company has created a new search application, aiming to replace the corresponding Google application.
Huawei Search App
Huawei last week launched a beta of its new search app for users in the UAE.
For now, Huawei's search app offers only the bare essentials compared to Google's own app. In other words, there are no additional features beyond basic web searches. On the other hand, the Google App is a fusion of Google Assistant, Google Lens, and several other Google services.
The app also supports EMIU 10 's dark mode . Additionally, there are shortcuts on the landing page for weather, calculator, sports, and unit conversions.
Beyond that, Huawei's search app includes the usual settings options – toggle search history, toggle safe search, change search region, change language and a few more.
According to XDA, the search app from Huawei is powered by Aspiegel Limited – a subsidiary of Huawei based in Ireland that manages the tech giant's mobile telecommunications services.
For now, Huawei's search app is a good option to try, but it certainly cannot match the capabilities and services offered by Google's Search App. However, given the circumstances, the company can develop it into a good alternative.
Since the US and Chinaare in an economic war, Huawei is on the list of companies that are not allowed to use Google services.
