Coronavirus is the topic of discussion these days. The virus originated in China and has affected thousands of people. Every day, new cases appear in countries around the world . As it seems, it is developing into a pandemic. Chinese hospitals have begun receiving special robots disinfection from abroad that will help fight the new serious virus.
The shipment of the robots began after a deal was signed between Sunay Healthcare Supply , a medical equipment supplier to the Chinese market, and Denmark-based UVD Robots . The coronavirus has placed restrictions on trade between China and other countries, but UVD sent some disinfection robots last week and plans to send more in the coming weeks.
“With this agreement, more than 2,000 hospitals will now have the opportunity to effectively disinfect, providing protection for both patients and staff,” says Su Yan, CEO of Sunay Healthcare Supply.
UVD Robots is a portfolio company of Blue Ocean Robotics. Last year, it won the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award in Robotics and Automation (IERA)for its autonomous disinfection technology. The technology uses UV-C light, which is emitted by the robots as they move. Ultraviolet light is germicidal and removes almost all viruses and bacteria present in the air and on surfaces in a room.
These robots are available in more than 40 countries. However, the Coronavirus requires additional medical and disinfection equipment in all hospitals, especially in China.
