Despite the fact that memes are flooding social media platforms, there aren't many Android or iOS apps that allow you to create high-quality memes.
However, it seems that this may now change, since Facebook decided to release such an application this week , which it calls Whale.
Whale meme creation app
The Whale app, which was created by Facebook's experimental division known as NPE (New Product Experimentation), allows users to add meme-like text, emojis, filters, and effects to an image.
The app connects to Facebook, Instagram , and Messenger, and allows you to instantly share your memes. It also has templates of popular memes so you can use them if you wish.
The Whale app is currently only available in the Canadian App Store and is only aimed at iPhone users in Canada.
Furthermore, the app is free and as it states in its description: “No distractions, no hidden subscription pricing.” There will be no annoying ads in the app, however we cannot be sure if it will be completely free in case it is released to more users.
Other Facebook NPE applications
Two other experimental apps created by Facebook's NPE team are AUX and Bump. The former is a live music app, while the latter is a messaging app.
AUX is aimed at children and teenagers attending a party and allows them to play their playlist and compete over who played the best songs.
The other app, Bump, is intended for students to help them communicate with other people through messaging.
However, it's best to be cautious about Facebook's experimental apps, as there are many times when the company has ultimately stopped releasing an app when it sees that it's not attracting many users.
