Unicef organizationfor children's rights, has decided to adapt to the new data and announced that from now on, people will be able to make donations in cryptocurrency.
The Unicef Cryptocurrency Fund was recently created and will allow donations to be received in ether and bitcoin.
The organization relies solely on donations from volunteers and plans to use cryptocurrencies to help children and young people around the world.
“This is a new and exciting venture for Unicef,” said Unicef Executive Director Henrietta Fore. “If digital economies and currencies have the potential to shape the lives of future generations, it is important that we explore the opportunities they offer. That is why the creation of the Cryptocurrency Fund is an important step forward for humanitarian and development work.”.

The Ethereum Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Switzerland, is excited about the partnership with Unicef:
“The Ethereum Foundation is excited to showcase how Ethereum and blockchain technology can help communities around the world. Our goal is to support research and development of the platform ,” said the Ethereum Foundation’s director. This will help everyone who benefits from this technology.
The Ethereum Foundation’s donation will help three Unicef Innovation Fund fellows (these are blockchain startups the organization supports), and will also boost the important GIGA, which aims to connect schools around the world to the Internet.
Unicef of the United States, Australia, and New Zealand already accept cryptocurrencies.
Unicef Australia is using a project called Hopepage, which is a browser-based cryptocurrency mining platform. The cryptocurrencies collected are converted into regular money, which the organization uses to provide children with basic goods, such as clean water, food, medicine and vaccines.
