See how you can reset the screenshot counter in Windows 10 and make it count from one again.

Microsoft in the latest versions of Windows 10 has significantly improved the ability to take screenshots directly. One of the simplest options is to use the Win + Print Screen keys. The screenshots will automatically be saved in the default folder so that you can find them easily.
This default folder is named “Screenshots” (or Screen Shots, if you have your Windows in Greek) and is located under the “Pictures” folder of the user you are currently logged in to.
Windows automatically names screenshots. Each filename starts with the word “Screenshot,” but since filenames must be unique, a number is added to the name as a counter. Windows increments the counter by 1 each time you take a new screenshot. The result is names like Screenshot(1).png, Screenshot(2).png, and so on.

The counter is not reset, even if you delete the files in the Screenshot directory or move all the files to another location. Windows remembers the last used number and will automatically increment the new Screenshot you take by 1. If you want to reset this counter, you can do so via the registry. Here's how:
Step 1: Open the Registry Editor (you must be an administrator). If you don't know how, press the Win+R keys simultaneously and in the run window that appears, type regedit and press the OK button.

If you are asked if you “want to allow this app to make changes to your device”, answer Yes.
Step 2: In the Registry Editor window, first create a backup, just in case. You can create a backup for the entire registry or just for the key you are going to “tweak”.
Step 3: Navigate to
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
Step 4: In the right pane, find and edit the “ScreenshotIndex” registry value. Convert the Base to Decimal and set the value data to 1 or whatever you want.

Step 5: Click ok. Close the registry editor. The next screenshot you take using Win + Print Screen will be named Screenshot(1).png. No system restart is required, the changes are applied immediately.
Note that Windows automatically chooses the next possible name number, even if you reset the index to 1. If Screenshot(1).png already exists in the Screenshots folder, then the name Screenshot(2).png will be automatically chosen by Windows.
