74 groups on Facebook marketplace sell illegal services

Hackers are are using dozens of groups on marketplace Facebook's to conduct illegal services and exchanges. opting for the popular social media platform.

According to Talos' research, there are several groups on Facebook that engage in illegal activities, some of which have been active for 8 years and number thousands of members.

In total, 74 groups were identified with malicious activity such as selling and trading stolen bank/credit card information, credentials, account credentials and email spamming tools.

The groups had more than 385,000 members and some of their names are: “Spam Professional”, “Spammer & Hacker Professional”, “Facebook hack (phishing)” and many more.

Any Facebook user can locate these groups by searching for keywords like “spam” or “CVV” and the Facebook algorithm will suggest similar groups, making the hackers easier.

Researchers found several posts where “users were selling credit card numbers and the accompanying CVVs, sometimes with identification documents or photos belonging to the victims.”.

Products such as large lists of emails and account details of various organizations and government agencies , as well as payments submitted via cryptocurrencies.

According to the investigation, all malicious groups were immediately removed.

This is not the first time, of course, that Facebook has faced such a situation, as in 2018 it had received accusations that cybercriminals were using groups for illegal services.

In fact, a few days ago, over 540 million personal Facebook user accounts including comments, reactions, account names, FB IDs were exposed publicly. All the data was collected and stored by third-party developers.
