Youtube seems to be following the trend of most applications and social media, as it expands its number of features, this time adding stories!
Stories first came from the Snapchat app, as a form of sharing messages and videos, and were later adopted by Instagram , Facebook and now YouTube. The largest video platform is constantly expanding and more and more creators have started using stories today. It should be clarified that this specific feature is currently only given to people who have more than 10,000 subscribers .
What are the differences from stories on other social media?
While YouTube stories and Instagram stories are similar in approach, they differ in appearance. Specifically, YouTube stories last for seven days on the mobile app and will appear not only to subscribers but also to users who have not clicked the subscribe button. Once a story is uploaded to the platform, it will appear in the “Up Next” sidebar next to a video, and creators will be able to use this key to respond to fans who interact with their stories. Additionally, the creator’s responses will be visible to anyone who has viewed their story.
What is the usefulness of the new feature?
The new feature is a smart way for YouTubers to engage with their followers without having to create videos every time they want to express themselves. This will of course help them move away from platforms like Instagram and Snapchat, which they have so far relied on to interact with their audience.
YouTube Stories were introduced in November last year and were only available for channel promotion and community engagement. Starting today, YouTubers can update their audience with any news on a daily basis.
While it can be considered quite useful as a new feature, many have doubts about its expansion across social media. In fact, the main question emerging from tech companies is whether we really need stories on every app and social media platform.
