DuckDuckGo: More than 30 million searches per day

DuckDuckGo, a search engine aimed at user privacy, announced that it now performs more than 30 million searches per day, and that its traffic has increased by 50% in just one year.

“It took us 7 years to reach 10 million daily searches, then 2 years to double to 20 million per day, and less than a year later we hit 30!” DuckDuckGo tweeted. As the company releases its traffic stats, you can see how fast the traffic has been growing over the past year.

The way DuckDuckGo works is different from Google. To create its index, DuckDuckGo's search engine mainly uses Bing and Wikipedia. It doesn't directly index entire websites like Google does, and for this reason you may find a page in the results that isn't fully updated, or that doesn't have any new posts.

The real reason it differs from all other search engines, however, are some features that we will not find in any other search engine. First, unlike other websites, DuckDuckGo does not “create” a profile for the user depending on their online behavior. It does not collect personal data, does not use cookies by default, and does not track user behavior. Last but not least, when the user visits a website through this search engine, the website analytics do not show the term the user searched for.

If you are interested in not having your online searches and visits recorded, then we highly recommend DuckDuckGo.
