Windows 10 October 2018 Update: The streak continues. Microsoft has released two separate updates that supposedly address issues that HP and Intel systems are experiencing when upgrading to Windows 10 version 1809.
The release of Windows 10 October 2018 Update (1809) was one of the worst in Windows history. So far, there have been many reported bugs, the most prominent of which are file deletion , Windows shutdown , sound issues , and BSODs .
Update KB4468550 is supposed to restore sound on affected systems. According to Microsoft:
This update addresses an issue where after installing the Intel Smart Sound Technology driver (version 09.21.00.3755) through Windows Update or manually, the computer's sound may stop working.
The patch is being released via Windows Update for affected systems and from the Microsoft Update Catalog. A system restart is required to complete the installation.
Update KB4468304 reportedly fixes a bug on HP systems that causes BSOD on startup after upgrading to Windows 10 version 1809. Microsoft confirmed this issue last Friday night and the update is already available via Windows Update and from the Microsoft Update Catalog. Microsoft states:
After installing the HP keyboard driver (version 11.0.3.1) via Windows Update or if you installed it manually, HP devices may experience a BSOD error: WDF_VIOLATION.
At this time, the Windows 10 October 2018 Update is still suspended and cannot be installed by any system.
