Business: Android loses to iPhone

While Android is the top choice in terms of mobile operating system worldwide, the same cannot be said for specific market sectors, such as enterprise.

Data released by Egnyte, a company that offers data storage and file sharing services to businesses, shows that iOS is the preferred choice for companies, with iOS accounting for a large portion of its traffic.

Business: Android loses to iPhone

Specifically, its research shows that at least 79% of the 16 petabytes of data was generated by iOS devices, while Android accounts for the remaining 21%.

In the iOS world, iPhones are responsible for 59% of traffic, while iPads account for the remaining 41%.

Also interesting is the graph showing which iOS devices are used to connect to Egnyte's services.

The iPhone 7 takes the top spot, followed by the older iPhone 6s and the iPad Air. The iPhone 7 Plus is next, with the iPhone 6 at the bottom. The iPhone X and iPhone 8 are nowhere to be found.

These numbers are surprising, given that the iPhone X fails to make the top five, but, on the other hand, they give the impression that companies are not upgrading their devices that often.

At the same time, the iPhone 6 is one of the most used devices in businesses, proving that even though it is already an old product, it continues to work well for business tasks.

Apple is set to launch three different iPhone models next week, including a more affordable configuration that is expected to create the anticipated supercycle. If that is indeed the case, then the iPhone 6 could soon become a thing of the past, with more and more customers moving on to new-generation devices.

All details, including pricing, will be released next week, but this particular model is expected to be at least $100 to $200 cheaper than the rest.
