For homes that are much larger than one or two rooms, mesh networking is one of the most ideal ways to spread the signal to every corner of the house, by placing multiple access points (APs). For this purpose, there are popular mesh networking devices such as Google WiFi.
A major problem associated with mesh networking routers is that they are not compatible with other brands. However, this problem now has a solution: the WiFi Alliance has announced a new certification program called EasyMesh.
EasyMesh allows mesh routers from different companies to communicate with each other and provide seamless wireless connectivity. The standard is based on the WiFi Alliance Multi-AP technical specification and requires mesh routers that support at least WiFi 802.11n.
EasyMesh can automatically monitor network conditions and help smartphones, tablets and other devices connect to the optimal access point. The standard ensures that it is easier to configure and add new devices according to your requirements.
It also contains another certification program, called WiFi Home Design, which helps identify the best placement points for each AP in a home.
Compatible mesh devices carry the EasyMesh logo. It is up to manufacturers to decide whether or not to include it. However, given the benefits of EasyMesh, many companies may adopt the standard, helping to reduce the cost of mesh networks.
