Google announced on Twitter that it has started rolling out the long-awaited Google Lens feature to all Android users using the latest version of the Google Photos app.
Android users will be the first to try Google Lens, an app that uses optical analysis and artificial intelligence technologiesto recognize objects and provide information about them in real time, through the phone's camera.
The app can be used to identify a specific type of plant, display information about a location or store, and even connect to a Wi‑Fi network by scanning the network’s password and SSID with the phone’s camera.
The capabilities that Google Lens offers you obviously don’t stop there, as you can use it for a multitude of additional functions.
You can, for example, create a new contact on your smartphone from a business card, learn more about a famous monument, identify points of interest, find information about books, movies, works of art, and other similar functions.
In a statement, Google said: “Today, Android users can try Google Lens to do things like create a new contact from a business card or get more information about a famous landmark. To get started, make sure you have the latest version of the Google Photos app for Android: https://goo.gl/8ZXW7a. Google Lens will be available for iOS soon.”
As everything shows, Android users can try Google Lens on their devices immediately, and according to the company's promise, the feature will soon be available to iOS users with supported iPhone and iPad devices – however, the exact release date has not yet been disclosed.
We remind that Android users who want to try Google Lens must have Google Photos installed on their device.
