Asus just announced the ZenFone 5 which looks a lot like the iPhone X, featuring a similar notch at the top of the screen.
Meanwhile, one of the features Apple would like to get rid of but hasn't managed to is the notch on the screen that essentially ruins its aesthetics. Unfortunately, edge-to-edge technology is not yet available.
The only alternative so far is to stop the display right below the camera and speaker. For now, most manufacturers have avoided this design decision, but at some point a solution to the problem has to be found.
ZenFone 5
If you put an iPhone X next to the ZenFone 5, you will notice that the only difference is the screen size, as the Android device has a larger surface area and a larger notch.
The Zenfone 5 comes with a 6.2-inch Super IPS display that can support a resolution of 2246×1080. It also has a strange 19:9 aspect ratio that will probably be fixed by third-party apps with some nice black bars.
On the other hand, thanks to the edge-to-edge display, the phone has a 90% screen-to-body ratio, which is quite impressive.
The Zenfone 5 also features a Snapdragon 636 chipset, and users can get a version with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The 12MP rear camera is equipped with a Sony IMX363 sensor and a secondary camera, which has an unknown resolution. The 3300mAh battery should be enough, but until the official launch, it's hard to say for sure how useful it will be.
It is important to mention that Asus wants to offer AI technology in many of its features, such as AI Boost, AI Display and even AI charging.
