Donald Trump's latest tweet includes some information about who may be to blame for the thousands of lost text messages between FBI agents.
The President of the United States says there are approximately 50,000 messages that can no longer be retrieved that were exchanged between former agent Peter Strzok and attorney Lisa Page. Both worked on the Special Counsel's investigation into the Prime Minister's possible ties to Russia during his election campaign.
"Where are the 50,000 important messages between FBI agents? Is Samsung to blame?" reads one of the president's tweets.
While it's unclear how Samsung is involved in the missing messages case, the FBI is known to use devices made by the South Korean company. According to reports, a software bug is to blame that deleted all messages from Strzok and Page's devices from December 14, 2016 to May 7, 2017.
Samsung has already declined to comment on Donald Trump's statement, but CBSNews has more information about what could be causing the loss of messages:
The missing chat logs between Strzok and Page are believed to include gratuitous comments about the US President, whom the FBI agent calls an "idiot" in a text message sent to the lawyer in 2015.
In a letter to Congress, the Justice Department cited “technical reasons” for not being able to retrieve 5 months of text messages between the two.
