Qualcomm its second annual tech conference. The updated chipset will retain the 10nm process size like its predecessor, but it features a revamped architecture that brings new features like 4K HDR video capture on smartphones and improved AI processing. In addition to the typical performance and power consumption upgrades we see every year, Qualcomm said it is focusing on AI VR technology, security, connectivity, performance, and immersion. Immersion in the technology space, and specifically in VR, we mean the ability to capture and capture the world around us in high resolution and quality for more realistic results. - Qualcomm Spectra 280 ISP: The Qualcomm Spectra 280 ISP is designed to deliver exceptional photographic imaging with XR technology and photo capture up to 16 MP/60 frames per second.
- Adreno 630 Visual Processing Subsystem: Experience stunning experiences with the Qualcomm Adreno 630 visual processing subsystem (including GPU, VPU, and DPU) that delivers a 30% improvement in graphics/video performance compared to the previous generation.
- AI Platform: The third-generation Qualcomm Hexagon 685 DSP supports advanced AI processing, delivering richer quality across camera, voice, XR, and gaming applications.
- Qualcomm Secure Processing Unit (SPU):The Snapdragon 845 is designed with an all-new processing unit that is designed to protect your personal data. Biometrics used for authentication can be stored separately, providing a high level of security.
- X20 Modem & Wi-Fi: Experience fiber-optic speeds with the Snapdragon X20 LTE modem. 20% faster than its predecessor, the X16LTE. As for the WI-FI standards used, they are 802.11ad (Multi-Gigabit) and 2×2 802.11ac.
- Virtually All-Day Battery Life and Quick Charging: The new Snapdragon 845 platform is designed to deliver increased all-day battery life and includes Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology that can charge your device up to 50% in just 15 minutes.
