Google wants to help you keep your data safe.
The company has launched Datally, a free app to help you understand and limit your data usage. The app is primarily aimed at users in India and Southeast Asia, where it is common to use prepaid SIM cards with limited data.
It's currently free on the Google Play Store and available for all Android devices. It shows you graphs of how much data you're using on a daily, monthly, or weekly basis. You'll also see which of your apps have used the most data, both recently and over the past day.
The app also includes “Data Saver,” a feature that prevents apps from using data in the background. When Data Saver is enabled, a round box will appear on the right side of your screen in any app you’re using. The box will let you know, in real time, how much data the app is using. By tapping on it anywhere, you can block the app from using data.
And in the interest of saving your data, Datally will notify you when you're near a public wifi and help you connect to it.
This app could eliminate a lot of stress, not only for those with prepaid SIM cards, but also for those with a limited data plan.
