Some websites of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) have reportedly been subjected to DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks during the counting process of the recent parliamentary elections.
CZSO spokesperson Petra Bacova told Sputnik Sunday: “The websites related to the parliamentary elections – volby.cz and volbyhned.cz – have temporarily failed to function due to DDoS [Distributed Denial of Service] attacks during the voting on Saturday. These attacks did not affect the overall progress of the elections.”
The Czech National Cyber Agency, together with the Police and the Information Security Agency, has already launched an investigation to examine the attacks.
“Thanks to the rapid response, the attacks on the two aforementioned servers were neutralized, while the work of the websites continued,” Bacova said.
The country held elections for the lower house of parliament on Friday-Saturday. The elections were won by the centrist ANO party with 29.64% of the vote.
