The 10-member National Cybersecurity Team is ready to represent Greece at the large pan-European cybersecurity competition European Cyber Security Challenge 2017 (ECSC ’17) in Malaga, Spain, between October 30 and November 3, 2017.
The competition is an initiative of the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity ENISA (www.enisa.europa.eu), which serves as the centre of expertise on network and information security matters of the European Union.
The organization and coordination of the Greek participation, for this year, has been undertaken by the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus, and is supported by the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications & Information. For the formation of the Greek national team, nationwide qualifying contests were held on June 3 and 4. Through an online competitive process, in which young men and women aged 14 to 25 from every corner of Greece participated, the top 10 were selected. The members of the national team who will compete at ECSC 2017 in Malaga, Spain, listed alphabetically, are the following:

In the current phase, the members of the Greek mission are being trained to develop their skills at the highest possible level. More specifically, under the leadership of Associate Professor of the Department Mr. Christos Xenakis, both the volunteer team Greunion and the company FOCALPOINT, through a special platform of virtual cyber attacks, are preparing the youths for their participation in the pan-European competition ECSC 2017. The staff of ADACOM also have an active role in organizing and designing the team's training.
The preparation will last until the end of October, so that on October 30 the team can travel ready to Malaga, Spain, where the pan‑European competition will be held.
