Microsoft announced today that it is preparing for the release of a version of its own Microsoft Edge browser for Apple's iOS and Google's Android operating system.
The version for Apple's iOS operating system appears to be available now, but the Android version is still in development. Both versions are currently only available to Windows Insiders who are testing the upcoming Windows 10 Fall Creators Update on their PCs.

It's not the first time that Microsoft provides a web browser on an operating system that is not Windows. The company released Internet Explorer for Mac many years ago, but after a short while it stopped doing so…
After all, what's the reason?
Microsoft Edge is only available for Windows 10 , and the release for Android and iOS means that new versions of Edge will also be released on non-Microsoft operating systems, but not on previous (older) versions of Windows.
It is a measure the company has taken to get more people to adopt Windows 10? No one can say for sure but I personally cannot find any other reason…
We should note that both new browsers (for iOS and Android) are built from scratch and use a different engine than Microsoft Edge on Windows 10.
Thus we can wonder: How much Edge is the new mobile browser?
Come on, let it also arrive on Linux, let's see who will use it…
