While all eyes are on the iPhone 8 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 these days, Google is also working at full speed to launch its new smartphones as soon as possible.
The new Google Pixel 2 comes in two different versions, while rumors claim that a third is also planned.
The new models will be called Taimen and Walleye and this is not the first time that these specific names have been mentioned, so the new information confirms their validity.
Apple's new smartphones will debut in September or October, which means Google is aiming for the same timeline as Apple and Google. The iPhone 8 is set to see the light of day in early September, while the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 will be released in the second half of September.
Taimen: The successor to the Google Pixel XL will feature a larger display with narrower bezels and an OLED LG 1440p display. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. The Taimen will retain the headphone jack and will be made of metal and glass.
Walleye: The smaller model comes with a 4.77-inch 1080p display and features the same front as the current model. While this sounds disappointing, it's part of Google's plans to pack more technology into the device, with the phone including speakers right where the front bezels are.
Surprisingly, this version will not include a 3.5mm headphone jack. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
