32TB of source code from unreleased and private builds of Windows 10, as well as parts of source code related to Windows 10's USB, Storage and Wi-Fi drivers, have been leaked online, which could lead to a massive wave of exploits of the operating system, security researchers say.
According to reports, the leak includes, among other things, Microsoft's Windows 10 Mobile Adaption Kit , some builds of the Windows 10 Creators Update , as well as some ARM-based versions of Windows 10 .
The leak mostly concerns private builds of Windows 10 used by OEMs and the company's partners, as well as by government agencies and other customers who gain access to the source code of these private versions through Microsoft's Shared Source Initiative.
The leak, which according to The Register is 32TB in size and was published on the Beta Archive website, also includes source code for Windows 10 hardware drivers, such as USB, Wi-Fi, and Storage Drivers.
The leak came just a day after two young men were arrested for gaining unauthorized access to Microsoft's network. However, it is not yet clear whether these arrests are related to this specific leak.
Microsoft confirmed the leak, while the source code related to Windows 10 has now been removed from the Beta Archive website.
