The Mozilla Foundation has just released the first build (Developer Preview) of its Servo browser for Microsoft's Windows operating system.
The Mozilla Foundation has already released the Servo browser for Linux and Mac since July 2016. Today, the Windows version was added to the list.
For those of you interested in trying out the new app, download links are at the end of the post. The Servo preview is called Servo Tech Demo and will not launch automatically after installation. You can find the app in the Windows start menu.
You should keep in mind that this is a tech demo. This means that most of the features it will have in the future do not exist at the moment.
The Servo home page opens with a list of thumbnail sites that you can launch. You can open any website on the Internet, but you may notice that some do not display correctly.
You can open multiple tabs, perform searches, and navigate back and forth, but for now those are the only functions you can do from the tech demo build that has been released.
There is no options menu, no menu bar, support for add-ons, themes, or anything else you would expect from a modern browser.
However, the Servo Developer preview loads quite quickly, but that may just be because the new app isn't overloaded with many features.
However we do it, the availability of Servo Tech Demo for Windows marks an important step, given that the new application finally covers all major operating systems.
