2017 has brought new flagships to the smartphone market that are more of an upgrade than a revolutionary device. However, 2018 could be a game-changer.A case in point is the Samsung Galaxy X, which has been in the news for quite some time.
A new report states that Samsung intends to start production of a new foldable original smartphone in the third quarter of the current year.
The new report talks about the production plans for Samsung's new smartphone, a fact that reveals that a possible release date could be set during the first half of 2018. Some claim that the launch will take place in the fourth quarter, but we will probably have the revelations much earlier. However, since no possible date has yet been confirmed by the company itself, it is very likely that things will change by then.
Samsung plans to produce thousands of prototypes and test both the quality and internal performance of the new devices. If these tests are successful, the company will proceed with mass production of foldable smartphones. Needless to say, if any test fails and after the fiasco with the Galaxy Note 7, the giant will abandon its plans.
Samsung showed off a prototype foldable smartphone during MWC 2017 to a fairly small group of guests. Rumors suggest that Samsung actually intended to produce prototype models of the new series in the first quarter of the new year, but the process was delayed in order to give the phone an ultra-premium look.
