Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom: At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Asus has officially announced its new ZenFone 3 Zoom smartphone with powerful camera features and a huge battery. The device is presented as a smartphone that is “made for photography.”
The device features a dual camera on the rear with a 12MP Sony IMX362 main sensor and 1.4µm pixel size.
The second camera on the back is called by the company "Zoom Camera" and is 12MP with 12x total and 2.3x optical zoom.
Asus claims that the SuperPixel technology in the main camera adds 2.5 times more light sensitivity compared to the iPhone 7 Plus.
In fact, the dual camera on the back can be compared to the one featured on Apple's latest smartphones, considering that it has roughly the same zoom principles.
The dual-camera setup also comes with laser-assisted autofocus, phase detection autofocus, and a Portrait Mode that adds “natural depth of field.” The latter feature, according to the company, will be available at a later date after a software update.
The smartphone's front camera features a 13MP Sony IMX214 sensor with an aperture of f/2.0 and has a display flash.
The device also features a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, a massive 5,000mAh battery, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and 4GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with Adreno 506 GPU. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Asus Zen 3.0 UI on top.
The Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom will be available in three colors, black, rose gold, and silver, starting in February 2017. Pricing for the device has not been announced.
