For many, doing laundry is a pretty boring chore. We have to carry a stack of clothes to the washing machine, measure out the detergent, put the clothes in the washer, and wait a long time for each wash to finish.
But Samsung promises to change that with its new 4-in-1 FlexWash + FlexDry washer/dryer, which it claims is “the most advanced, flexible laundry system” in the world. First up is the FlexWash washer, which has a 5-cubic-foot capacity (Samsung says it’s the best in its class). But the magic lies in a second, one-cubic-foot washer on top that lets you do two loads at once, finally providing a way to wash difficult-to-wash clothes, like your one-of-a-kind red shirt, without having to do a second wash.
To be fair, we've seen a double-load washing machine before, in the form of LG's Twin Wash. But LG's system only lets you do two washes, leaving your clothes damp. Samsung has taken it a step further with its FlexDry dryer, which can automatically adjust the temperature based on the fabric.
Finally, the washer/dryer can be fully controlled with the Samsung Smart Home app, allowing you to do laundry and monitor its progress from the comfort of your living room or bedroom.
On the other hand, Samsung recently recalled about 2.8 million washing machines due to an issue where the top of the machine came off and caused damage. This could be a deterrent for some buyers.
Forget about the old days, though, it looks like Samsung's 4-in-1 laundry system could solve a lot of our laundry problems. While Samsung hasn't announced a price or release date for the FlexWash + FlexDry system, the company will be demonstrating it at CES this week.
