LG was counting on strong sales for its flagship G5 that was released last year, but the smartphone fell short of expectations. For the next G-series smartphone, LG has made some design changes.
Details about the upcoming G6 have been leaking for some time now, with the latest image on SlashLeaks revealing the G6 inside a case from an unknown manufacturer. Earlier leaked images showed a similarity between the G5 and G6 designs, with the latter having some elements borrowed from the V20, such as the dual camera setup on the back.
Apart from that, the back of the phone will also house the LED, placed between the two camera sensors, and the fingerprint scanner which is located just below the dual camera setup. The two cameras are placed horizontally on the back.
It's hard to say for sure if the company has changed its design for the upcoming G6. Some reports say the G6 will have a removable battery, but it's hard to say for sure at this point.
The company is expected to unveil the G6 in February, during MWC 2017 scheduled for Barcelona, with the phone actually launching in March. With this schedule, LG could be looking to attract some customers before Samsung unveils the Galaxy S8 in April.
The G6 could be the first smartphone to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, with improved performance, security, and battery life. The new chip will be unveiled in just a few days during CES 2017. The G6 could also feature a 5.3-inch display and USB Type-C port, in addition to a 3D glass panel on the back and a 2.5D display on the front.
