Microsoft unveiled the revamped and modernized 3D Paint app for Windows 10 yesterday.
It was designed to make creating 3D objects easy on any device with a regular mouse, keyboard, touchscreen, and stylus. Users can take photos and turn parts of the photo into 3D objects. All 2D pens and pencils can work on any 3D object. Microsoft envisions these creations being displayed on HoloLens.
Microsoft is now letting Windows reviewers test an early version of 3D Paint.
Microsoft has also launched an online community alongside the 3D App. It allows Paint users to export their creations and share them with the community or download 3D objects that others have created. Microsoft has published 3D Paint in the Windows Store for download and installation, but it requires the Windows 10 Creators Update, which is only available to select reviewers.
It also looks like it will be particularly useful for Minecraft players. According to Microsoft, players will not only be able to export their in-game creations with this new app, but they can then print them out, so they have a real live version before they go digital. There are already a few third-party options that offer similar services, but given the integration between Minecraft and 3D Paint, this should be the best option at this time.
