Android Nougat is finally here. Don't get excited, it's for a select few and is being distributed via over-the-air updates.
Below are the devices that can receive the update first:
- Nexus 6
- Nexus 5X
- Nexus 6P
- Nexus 9
- Nexus Player
- Pixel C
- General Mobile 4G (Android One)
We should also mention the LG V20, which according to Google will be the first device to be released with the new operating system.
The update is exactly the same as the latest preview of the operating system, with 72 new emoji and new quick settings for features like Bluetooth.
Apps can also change their behavior depending on your location, and run side by side with multi-window support.
Google also says that Doze is smarter in Android Nougat, and will activate when the device is in a bag or backpack.
VR also plays a big role in Android Nougat which features support for Vulkan and Daydream, first announced at Google I/O earlier this year.
So from now on, Nexus owners can check their devices to see when the update will appear. Like all Android updates, it will be released gradually – and it will take some time to reach everyone.
