Google announced experimental HTTPS support on Blogger (Blogspot) last September. A company announcement today says that the tests went well and the protocol is now the default for all blogs on the platform.
Back in September, the company added a setting to Blogger's admin that allowed users to enable secure HTTPS connections on their blogs.
This setting is no longer there as the feature is enabled by default on all blogs. In its place is a new option referred to as “HTTPS redirect.”
This option, if enabled, will automatically redirect all blog visitors to HTTPS URLs, instead of HTTP links.
This redirect works automatically, and users who click on links posted on social networks or other pages will automatically be redirected to secure HTTPS connections, without you having to do anything.
In September, initial tests showed errors on blogs using subdomains, such as username.blogspot.com, but not on blogs running custom domains, such as userdomain.com.
The error was known as "mixed content" and according to Google, some blogs operating on subdomains are likely to encounter similar errors.
So he created a tool that will help you identify mixed content errors and fix your websites.
