Facebook has awarded a 10-year-old Finnish boy $10,000 for discovering a security bug in Instagram that allowed the 10-year-old hacker to delete any content he wanted from Facebook's image service.
Janni reported the issue on Facebook in late February and received the cash reward in March. To prove the bug, Janni deleted a message on one of Instagram's test accounts.
After receiving the check, Janni can be considered the youngest Facebook security researcher to be rewarded for discovering a bug. The previous youngest was 13 years old.
According to Finnish newspaper Iltalehti, Janni learned the basics of coding and security from YouTube videos.
Janni of course mentioned that he plans to become a security researcher and that he will use the reward to buy a new bike, and new computers for his two brothers.
