CatBlock is the first ad blocking extension for Edge

CatBlock is called the first ad blocking extension for the Microsoft Edge web browser. The extension has just been released as an alpha version.Microsoft Edge

The experimental version of Microsoft Edge is currently being tested by Windows 10 Insiders.
So this extension can only be installed on the latest version released through the Windows Insider program.

If you are running the latest Microsoft preview operating system, follow the steps below to try out the CatBlock extension.

CatBlockDownload the Edge extension from the project page on GitHub
Unzip the file to your system
Run setup.cmd found in the / folder.
You may see a SmartScreen warning (filter warning). Click on more information and then select run the exe anyway.

Your screen will flash for a moment and the instructions.txt document located inside the main folder of the extension will open.

Immediately after that, open Microsoft Edge.
Select the three dots (…) in the upper right corner of Edge and then select extensions from the menu that opens.
Click the load extension button and
select the catblock folder (not the CatBlock Extension for Edge folder that you found in setup.cmd, but the folder inside).
You will see that Edge has added the extension.

The extension works properly after installation. You will understand this because in the place where the ads were, the extension loads images of cats… automatically. Let's hope that by the final version the cats will also be gone, as cute as they are….
