Huawei MateBook: Huawei has announced its first laptop-tablet hybrid device. The company has named the new series Mate.
The new MateBook has some features from its smartphone lineup, such as an all-metal chassis with a fanless design but with heat dissipation shields to ensure the casing doesn't heat up under heavy use.
The MateBook features a 12-inch display (2,160×1,440 pixels, 400 nits), USB-C connector, Intel Core M-Series processors and up to 8GB of RAM (the last two features are depending on what you want).
The MateBook has dual speakers at the top, positioned in such a way that the sound is not compromised when the tablet is folded with its keyboard. Huawei says its battery is 33.4 watts and will last up to 10 hours.
It also has a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device. The device's two cameras are both on the front.
The MateBook weighs 640 grams - 70 grams lighter than the iPad Pro and exactly the same height, at 6.9 mm.
The keyboard is included in some retail packages, and not in others.
It looks a lot like the Surface Pro models, especially in the way its keyboard folds up to provide support. However, it only provides one angle of support.
The MateBook will start at $699 and go up to $799, depending on the features you want.
Finally, the device has wired connectivity options, HDMI output, and additional USB ports.
