Chinese company Xiaomi is preparing to release a mid-range Android smartphone, the Redmi 3, on January 12th.
However, Xiaomi officially unveiled the Redmi 3 today and announced that the smartphone will first hit store shelves in China on January 12th.
So the Chinese will be the first to be able to get the mobile phone, for 700 yuan (about 105 dollars) in three colors: Gold, classic gold, silver, and dark gray.
Xiaomi has not announced anything about the global availability of the device, but as the company usually does, after a few months it will be available in other markets.
Apart from the low price, the main point of the Redmi 3 that will make the device stand out is the 4,100 mAh battery with fast charging technology.
It is also worth noting that the Xiaomi Redmi 3 will launch with MIUI 7 which is based on the Android Lollipop operating system.
On the rear, the Redmi 3 sports a 13-megapixel camera, featuring phase detection autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, while on the front there is a secondary 5-megapixel camera.
The Xiaomi device, although mid-range, is equipped with a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor, clocked at 1.5GHz, combined with an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3 comes with 16GB of storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card slot. The device also features 4G LTE, Hybrid dual-SIM connectivity but lacks 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS with AGPS and GLONASS.
The Redmi 3's touchscreen is 5 inches and supports HD (720p) resolution.
