devolo presents the dLAN 550 WiFi, a new wireless Powerline adapter based on range+ technology. The dLAN® 550 WiFi was developed to provide greater performance through a new compact design.
The dLAN adapter achieves a bandwidth of up to 300 Mbps via WiFi and 500 Mbps via Powerline. In addition, it has an Ethernet connection for simultaneous connection of wired devices.
dLAN 550 WiFi: WiFi everywhere!
In many households, entire rooms are often poorly or not at all covered by the wireless network, while an ever-increasing number of electrical devices fully utilize their capabilities only under the condition of a stable Internet connection.
devolo, as a powerline specialist, has been providing a simple but very effective solution for many years: With its dLAN® adapters that also integrate wireless functionality, it uses the power line as a long network cable and creates a new wireless hotspot wherever it is needed.
The new dLAN 550 WiFi is a particularly compact adapter that can be placed anywhere in the house. Thanks to its two antennas, it offers a wireless connection with a bandwidth of up to 300 Mbps. Connected directly to the power line, it achieves even higher performance, reaching 500 Mbps and a cable distance of 400 meters. Fast downloads and streaming services are now really fun.
Wireless data transfer is via WPA, while data transfer via power lines is secured with 128-bit AES encryption, so as to provide protection against unauthorized access.
WiFi in every space and easy installation
devolo products are characterized by high quality of construction and operation, but above all by ease of use. All adapters are installed and operational in just a few minutes, without requiring specialized knowledge from the user. In the case of powerline networks, we simply place the first adapter in a free socket near the router and connect it to it.
The second adapter is placed in the socket in the area where we want to have access to the network. The network is created automatically and without time-consuming and technically difficult procedures. The installation of additional adapters (up to 8) is also carried out easily and quickly with just a few movements. The dLAN 550 WiFi automatically creates a WiFi Hotspot exactly where the user needs it.
Even greater bandwidth and range thanks to devolo range+ technology
The high data transfer rates and transmission stability of the dLAN 550 WiFi are due, among other things, to the range+ technology, which is only integrated into devolo adapters. This technology uses the ground in addition to the phase and neutral for data transfer, thus ensuring a significant improvement in communication. The range+ applies a special coupling method to the ground and thus outperforms conventional adapters on the market, both in terms of coverage and stability and in bandwidth.
A wireless network throughout the house: devolo WiFi Move and Clone
No one would like to have two or more wireless networks in their home, with separate IDs and passwords. For this reason, devolo developed the innovative WiFi Clone function and WiFi Move technology.
The WiFi Clone function receives, with the push of a button and securely via WPS, all wireless connection data from the user's router, so that terminal devices automatically connect to the devolo wireless hotspot.
When additional adapters are added to cover other areas of the home, WiFi Move technology takes action, automatically connecting each new adapter to the existing wireless network, creating a larger home wireless network. It also takes care of all the optimal settings, such as child safety, timers or similar functions on the adapters. The user and the connected devices now see only one large wireless network available in any desired location in the home.
Prices and availability
The devolo dLAN 550 WiFi is available as a single adapter, as a Starter Kit (additional dLAN 550 duo+ adapter for connection to the router) or as a Network Kit (2 x 550 dLAN WiFi and 1 x dLAN 550 duo+). The suggested retail prices (including VAT) are €79.90, €119.90 and €179.90 respectively. All devolo adapters are covered by a 3-year warranty.
