Every six weeks, Mozilla releases a new version of Firefox. Currently, Firefox version 42 is available to the general public, Firefox 43 is in beta, and Firefox 44 is in Developer Edition. But let's take a look at the main changes that Firefox 42 brought us.
Improved Private Browsing
Now when you browse in private browsing, Firefox will block all known tracking elements. It blocks all external JavaScript, Iframes, and anything blacklisted by the “diconnect.me” service.
Sound indicator and mute in tabs
With Firefox 42, you can mute the sound in each tab using the appropriate icon on it.
Privacy page in options
The “Privacy” page in options has been updated. It is now clearer and easier to use
Improved HTTPS indicators
Mozilla developers have changed the way Firefox shows the security level of a website.
WebRTC
WebRTC support has been improved. WebRTC allows you to make VoIP calls using just your web browser. It now supports IPv6, which is more secure and allows you to change the appearance of your IP. Firefox 42 also has the ability to suppress incoming calls.
Media Source Extensions
The Media Source Extension API used to play HTML5 video is enabled for all web pages. So now you can play HTML5 video everywhere without needing Flash Player.
Source Code viewer update
The Source Code viewer now opens in a separate tab instead of a separate window.
Also:
The Android version now has a new voice input feature. All versions include a huge number of security updates and performance improvements.
The ESR channel now has Firefox version 38.4. The Thunderbird email application will be updated to version 38.0.4 ESR. SeaMonkey will reach version 2.39.
Firefox 43 is expected to be released on December 15, 2015. Firefox 44 should be released on January 26, 2016.
