The Electronic Frontier Foundation has just released Privacy Badger, a browser add-on that will help you block the spying efforts of advertisers and other trackers.
The EFF has just released the stable version of its add-on, Privacy Badger, to “put an end to non-consensual browser tracking.”
“We like Disconnect, AdBlock Plus, Ghostery, and other similar products,” they say, noting that the Privacy Badger add-on is based on ABP code, and none of these add-ons are suitable for the EFF as not all users have the ability to configure them properly to block all trackers.
With the Privacy Badger add-on, EFF intends to develop code that will be integrated by other extensions, or browsers, with the aim of strengthening the privacy of internet users.
Privacy Badger will block requests originating from servers that track users through the identification of cookies, super cookies, and canvas fingerprinting.
Canvas fingerprinting actually caused a stir in 2014, when researchers from Princeton University in the US published a study titled “The Web Never Forgets” (PDF).
It should be mentioned that the Alpha version of Privacy Badger was released last May.
