It seems that Samsung has finally decided to admit and address the issue that arose with Windows Update. The company said that it will release a patch that will re-enable Windows' default behavior.
Samsung had its share of troubles this week when it was revealed that its software acts more like bloatware than regular software updates.
To be more precise, the company's SWUpdate, the software that updates Samsung computers with the company's drivers and selected programs, disables Windows Update on some computers.
The company initially denied that its software did this, later trying to justify this behavior, stating that it is necessary to ensure the stability of the drivers on its computers.

Finally, it seems that the Korean company has given in. In a statement sent to VB, the manufacturer said that it will release an update that will resolve the problem by re-enabling Windows Update, which should have been enabled by default anyway.
The company's full statement:
Samsung is committed to security and continues to value its partnership with Microsoft. We will issue a patch through Samsung’s software update process and PCs will revert to the recommended automatic settings through Windows Update within a few days. The company remains committed to providing a reliable user experience and we encourage our customers to reach out to us with any product questions or concerns directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG.
This is an assumption of responsibility... But it came a bit late and after the internet was buzzing. The company's first behavior was an attempt to deny and justify the event.
However, we believe that customer trust is gained from small details that make a difference.
It would be much more honest to immediately accept and take responsibility rather than trying to mislead users.
However, such events show us how important the presence of independent researchers aka hackers, or pentesters, is, but also how much the immediate publication of security vulnerabilities can help.
