Microsoft's Bing service predicts Eurovision winner

Microsoft's Bing service has been on a special mission lately. The company has tasked the search engine with predicting the winner of this Saturday's Eurovision Song Contest (May 23).Eurovision

So according to the company, we have a winner.

A Microsoft blog post states that Italy has an 18% higher chance of winning the competition, followed by Sweden, Australia, Russia and Albania.

Below is the ranking, as predicted by Microsoft's Bing service:

  • Italy – 18%
  • Sweden – 16.1%
  • Australia – 13.3%
  • Russia – 11.4%
  • Albania – 11.2%

Redmond technicians say that Bing's search engine (essentially where the prediction is made) will continue to monitor online trends and provide new estimates regularly.

In case you're wondering how accurate Bing's predictions are, Microsoft's service has correctly predicted 16 of the 19 winners of this year's Oscars. But that's not all. It has also predicted the outcome of 15 of the 16 games at the World Cup in Brazil.

Needless to say, Microsoft expects these to be accurate predictions for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015.But we'll know for sure on Saturday night, when the show in Vienna ends.

The company also has a similar application that you can download for Windows from the Windows Store, as well as for Android or iOS. Search for Eurovision Song Contest
