Apple has implemented its first automatic security update for Macs, fixing a security flaw too important to wait for user approval.
Until now, Apple had avoided doing automatic updates, despite the fact that it has had this feature for two years.
The problem identified in NTP or Network Time Protocol was significant, as hackers have used this piece of software in the past to cause damage to other computer systems.
NTP is used to synchronize clocks between computer systems and on the internet worldwide.
The "hole" was discovered by the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. The weak point identified in the software affects dozens of technology companies, including Apple.
