Sad news for Witcher fans around the world, as developer CD Projekt Red has announced that the third installment in the series has just been pushed back by 12 weeks. This means that instead of coming in February 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will now be released on May 19, 2015.
According to the developers, the reason for the delay is “the sheer size and complexity” of the game, which appears to be “having a decisive impact on production.” In a brief statement to its fans, CD Projekt Red apologizes for the delay and says they had set the release date “too hastily.”.
The reason for the delay is that the developers need more time to fix issues with the game. It seems that as the game nears completion, the developers have found “many details that need to be fixed,” and therefore, additional time is needed until its release.
Of course, CD Projekt Red's decision to delay the game so that it becomes as bug-free as possible is commendable, although it is neither right nor professional to play with the patience of its fans.
You can see below a trailer for the game that the company released on December 5th, advertising its arrival only to postpone it three days later.
