TRENDnet: Wi-Fi routers are now truly powerful, with a satisfactory broadcast signal to and from many devices simultaneously, while they can also maintain a strong internet connection through a wireless access point or through a 3G router, or through a physical cable connection.
However, walls and furniture always affect the signal strength, so some parts of a house or even a large part of it may be out of range of the router. That is, the signal strength may be so weak that it cannot be successfully connected to any PC.
That's why digital device company TRENDnet has just released a device that extends the wireless network to the desired areas and at the same time integrates a smart remote-controlled outlet.
It's called the THA-101, and it should be placed in an area where the Wi-Fi signal is not satisfactory, i.e. at least 2 lines. Then, you need to install an app and you will instantly see your wireless signal in all corners of your home.
The built-in socket allows you to connect a light or fan (located on the front of the THA-101) and after installing a free app for Apple or Android you will be able to turn them on and off via the internet. That is, the special app associated with the THA-101 device will let you turn the socket on or off from any mobile device with an internet connection. The app also gives you the ability to remotely control the socket with a timer or random switching.
The app also displays real-time energy consumption information, such as current consumption (in mA), voltage, power (in Watts), and total energy usage (in kW).
Unfortunately, the TRENDnet socket does not yet have a corresponding device for the Greek electrical network. The American version, however, which is currently on sale, costs $63.99 (about 52 euros). We hope to see it on the shelves of Greek stores since the remote-controlled sockets so far have their own control, do not connect to the internet, do not record consumption and the wi-fi repeaters are simple devices without any other function. Unless of course you have the money to set up a complete but very expensive energy management system based on BEMS (Building Energy Management Systems) or the newer KNX protocol in your home.
